With half of the world’s population being women, it is both alarming and surprising to me that how little time and resources are given towards specific women’s health issues. Case in point – a 2019 survey by World Economic Forum placed India 150th rank out of 153 countries surveyed. We have barely moved the needle on shocking statistics like 50% of Indian women being anemic (6% US women are anemic) or in a country that has exported the most brilliant technology experts, scientists and statisticians, 23 million girls drop out of school every year due to menstrual issues. In short, women’s health continues to be a topic discussed in hushed tones with irrational stigmas and taboos associated with it.
